While there are a lot of people that enjoy casino gameplay, there is equally a large number of people that enjoy sports betting. Those that reside in the United States do have some opportunities now to be able to legally use online sports booking sites.
Law
There was a law in place called the PASPA which was a federal law that would not allow wagers on single games. However, the Supreme Court as of 2018 refuted this law. What this did was open the doors for the various states to now be able to allow online sports betting by applying their own rules. There was some concern that Congress would pass new laws to prevent this but this seems to have petered off.
Online Sports Betting
Not every state has opted in to allowing the online sports betting. Their rule still stipulates that any sports betting must be done within a brick and mortar establishment such as an on-land casino. There are some that try to place bets through an app. However, most of the sports betting sites are able to trace the location of where the bet is coming from. If this is not considered to be a legal location than the bets will be rejected.
Sports betting in New Jersey
As of 2018 New Jersey was quick to get on board to allow online sports betting as soon as the PASPA was no longer valid. Their first online sports betting entity went live in August 2018. Within a few weeks, there was a couple of sports booking apps that became available.
Using a Sports Betting Site
Once an individual knows that they are legally allowed to place bets on a sports betting site they now have an exciting opportunity ahead of them. However, it takes a little while to get used to this type of platform. Many of them offer a full variety of different sports the bets can be placed on.
